Christian baptism is about believing in God and belonging to the church family. Adults are baptised into the church family upon public profession of their faith in Jesus Christ. Children who are too young to make this profession for themselves can be baptised into the church family if their parents intend to bring them up within the church family and in a knowledge of the Christian faith.
When they are older, the child will then be able to "decide for themselves" and profess their own faith in a service of confirmation. Baptisms are generally held on Sundays at 3pm in the Church.
For parents who want to celebrate the birth of their child we also offer a service of thanksgiving.
If you would like to have your child baptised at St Peter's, call us on 01332 704835 to find out about next steps.
